That was interesting indeed. I was asked a number of comparative questions on the use of MySQL and SQL Server for my customers, and answered to the best of my ability. My main point of concern is the high cost of SQL Server for smaller customers.

I’ve taken the plunge and am now using SVN Server for source control. It’s part of my mad scheme to consolidate everything. There isn’t a plugin for VB 6, but at least I can see the diffs between versions now. Plus there’s branching and so forth, which I’m using for versioning as well.

Just want to say thanks, it converted a very simple sphpblog with ~200 posts in 2-3 seconds.

A couple of issues that were easy to figure out:
I set my date format (regional settings in windows) to YYYY-MM-DD in order to match the format my mysql install wanted.
I also edited a post and added it to all categories and then removed the unwanted categories in order to get the categories (sidebar) updated/working in wordpress.

Thanks for the brilliant work. Really appreciate it!

No. Aside from the ludicrous size of the "Important" update, these five words are NOT English. The workaround is common sense. How stupid are people, that Microsoft actually considered fixing a "bug" because "Obama" kept getting underlined in their Windows Mail app?

As I type this, Firefox is underlining "Obama". Should I submit a bug report to them? I'll be laughed at, and rightly so. Microsoft is not doing anyone a favour, least of all the tens of millions of Vista / Server 2008 users out there, by making them stupider.

It is only a waste of bandwidth if you live in a country where you have limits on monthly downloads – I do admit though that a 62.9MB "patch" to add 5 new words is kinda lame… They could have use powershell in Vista/Server 2008 to do it a lot more effieciently no?

Re winamp … up till friday … i agreed – then i decided to search and found a "in_mp3.dll" error while loading corrupted id3 tags … which has since fixed my problems …

However, cdexos – which i use by choice to re-encode at 128 etc etc … cant handle more than 1200 files at a time … which …. is fucking annoying

I like Aiden or Adrian too. Andrew was an option, but my cousin is Andrew. We have enough confusion with two Charleses (grammarians are allowed to lambaste me for that).

The trouble with nice names like the above, is putting them with a surname.

What surname are we using? Yours? If so, names ending in the same sound as the surname are cause for discussion. The poor child needs a name that won't be incessantly mocked.

We won't even discuss my surname!

As long as it's not Petrus Philippus...

I like Aiden, Adrian or Damien.

Paul isn't a bad option either - it was almost my name if you recall, but then, the rest of my family are all P initials, and my grandfather told my mother not to go that route, since sorting out the post would be a vast nightmare!

Oh, and Mildred is a drag artiste! (Her real name is Milton or something)

The laptop went back to the suppliers, who treated me like a king. I don't know if they repair machines not from their stock.
